Gerald Pumphrey
I grew up in a fishing family, spending time on the water and catching my first fish before I can recall the experience.  Later, my outdoor time expanded to include hiking, backpacking, camping, canoeing, bird hunting, coastal cruising, and snowshoeing.  These activities took me to places many will never see and at times of day or night that many would regard as too early or late.  The forests, fields, lakes, rivers, fjords, ever-changing skies, and encounters with wildlife provided a kaleidoscopic window into the rich bounty of beauty that surrounds us.  In my mid-fifties, I became fascinated with photography as a means of preserving and sharing the memories that have inspired my pursuit of time in the great outdoors.  It is my hope that the images I make will inspire others to seek out and more importantly- preserve our natural places and creatures- for the pleasure and inspiration of future generations.
